The green turtle is one of the 7 species of sea turtles that exist today. It is a marine reptile and breathes air through lungs. It can remain submerged for 4 to 7 hours if it is resting, but during active dives, such as when searching for food, it usually stays underwater for 20 to 40 minutes. It is a migratory species that travels enormous distances between its feeding and nesting areas.
